ROYE REVIEWS SEC's MUTUAL FUND REGULATORY AGENDA

Paul Roye, the director of the SEC's Division of Investment Management, in a speech at an ALI-ABA conference reviewed the reviewed some of the major issues that are likely to be on the Commission's agenda in the coming weeks and months, which include:

  • Valuation;
  • Portfolio Pumping and Window Dressing;
  • Conflicts Generated by New Business Opportunities (Including Private Account and Hedge Fund Business Operated At Mutual Fund Complexes);
  • Improving Shareholder Communications;
  • Improving Shareholder Communications;
  • Advertising;
  • New Products and Technologies (Including Web-Based Products and Exchange-Traded Funds); and
  • Affiliated Transactions.

Mr. Roye also gave an overview of the regulation of investment companies.
